Issue with <> in a container name

I am using a script that someone else made that references a container name that uses <> around a name. ie. <NAME> I am using Artist version 5.0.1.60000. Whenever I try to modify the original name or create a new container and type <NAME> it automatically reverts to _NAME_ Does anyone know why this is happening and how to use <> symbols in a container name.

Hi there
I assume you should change the script where it says <NAME> to the actual name of your container
viz does not allow >< in node names (or any non alpha numeric sign)

@adishin Thank you very much for the response. I thought about that possibility but if Viz doesnt allow these symbols how did the original creator of the scene get them there? Is this a situation where possibly the script was created in an earlier version that did allow the symbols and Viz5 does not?

without the original script I can't tell, but viz had never supported any of the following in container names: ">/<.,;:*+{[]}?|´¨^'§€$¤#"
