Control surface freezing up

I have a TC 2 Elite, bought a year ago, and I believe it's the latest firmware. I was doing some testing for major events next week, and noticed that the 2 stripe control surface was freezing up, then would unfreeze and then freeze again. I didn't time it, so I'm not sure how long before the issue would come up. Any idea on why it would be freezing up? Almost like it's loosing connection and then re-connecting. I didn't try a different CaT5e cable, but that is my next idea. Thanks in advance for any input.
