It has been a long time, a very long time since I have been around these parts. So many new names is wonderful to see.
Though there are still some of the old names I remember. Hey Kane! and Jose!

In case you are thinking, who is this guy... well I am Jef Kethley the owner of PIZAZZ, a 20+year Newtek/Vizrt reseller and HEAVY user.
We have been doing all kinds of fun productions and installations with our TC2s, Vectars, and other Viz products. On prem but also lots of in Cloud/virtualization the last 5 years.

I let my presence falter around these parts over the last few years but I plan on improving that.

Bob Bailey here. Wow! Hey Jef. It's been a while since I've need questions answered or a way to buy TriCaster stuff. Glad your here.
I still use my TriCaster 855/860 for production. There have been a couple of times in the past that I had a failure, but I was always able to overcome the problems without loosing my shoot. I bought an 860 and received the switcher yesterday. The CS should arrive on Monday or Tuesday.
I opened the top of the 860 and measured the 2032 at only 1.4 volts so I replaced it. To make this a true backup I'll need NDI as well as the animation software. My current TC is still a 855/860 Standard. I've had great luck with it.
I haven't fired up the backup 860 yet to see if it already has NDI or the animator software and I also don't know if it's a Advanced model or not. The VZRT website doesn't show pricing like the old Newtek site did. Am I talking about NDI and Advanced software as at-a-price or have they gone to offering those at no cost. I just barely found the TriCaster forum and was so happy to see you on it.

I got the CS today and fired it up. Everything seems fine. In connecting monitors my computer monitor works great when plugged into the DVI connector marked as "interface" on the back panel. I connected the top HDMI output to an HDMI monitor and that worked. But when I moved the HDMI down to the second HDMI output I got no video. I can't find anything about it except for the fact that the 860 isn't suppose to have a second HDMI connector. I noticed the 8000 pictured in my old 860 manual has exactly the same back panel as the 860 I just now bought. Confused. My older 860 only has one HDMI connector. In the meantime, should I re-register the 860 I just bought? I don't forsee problems just to leave it alone except...I don't know. What do you think?
 
As far as I remember these TC models back then had indeed only 2 GPU port outputs when working with the TC software running on it. The other connectors are from the motherboard, with limited (if any) support within TC SW usage of system.

I wasn't sure what I was looking for on those pdfs.
I have noted that the lower HDMI port seems to display the computer interface with the NewTek logo in the lower right of the screen. It's now showing the resister panel. My TXD860 boots into the first Tricaster screens fed by the DVI connector at "Interface" and then blanks, switching to the screen plugged into the lower HDMI port. Crazy.
 
ÝES, multiple TC monitor setup is/was always tricky, escpecially when the graphic card, used in newer models, supported more than 2 GPU HW output ports (mixture of DVI, HDMI, Display Port connectors during the years), depending on graphic card). On top there is still a setup within the TC SW Home Screen available to swap UI and Multiview monitor(1), which may get confusing with WIN OS monitor layout setup processed maybe before running TC SW, and also with the support of more than 2 Nvidia GPU ports outputs on newer models (earlier once had just two)
AND, please don't try to disconnect/reconnect monitors during TC operation.

Hope this may help a bit to get on on your end.

Finally figured out the monitors. First...it appears it works better when both DVI connectors feed a pair of High Rez monitors. Because at power on, the multiview port shows booting up while the other DVI port's monitor is blank. After a bit, the monitors switch with the lower DVI showing the computer monitor while the upper DVI port shows Multiview. The reason the computer monitor was jittering turned out to be the DVI to DVI cable.
I'd tried two different SamSungs along with two different cables. When I hooked up my HP monitor which was a DVI running at 1920 X 1080 and it, too jittered, I located another DVI to DVI cable of a different brand from the other two, and poof, clean unjittering video. Who knew?

Actually I had similar issue even nowadays with my new Vizion HW unit (4 Nvidia DisplayPorts with 4 DisplayPort to 8K HDMI Adapters included in the box) and an elderly HDMI cable working just fine on my previous Mini, TC1 and TC2-E devices setup(s) for many years (always in the reccommended 1920x1080 resolution) - but not with these DisplayPort - HDMI Adapter combo of Vizion TC model any more - after a little while I thought too it may be just a cable issue -> DONE ;)

Early on, during boot up I began getting a warning with Microsoft Visual C+ installed programs as the culprets. There were six in the list. Three were dated July 15, 2026. The warning suggested restore. As I was hesitant to restore because of several ADD ON purchased programs, I didn't want them to be lost during restore. Possibly, the restore might have left them alone but... This warning screen came up at every startup and every exit. I finally went to Control Panes and discovered the three that were new and deleted them. That seemed to fix that problem. I haven't seen the warning since. (still no response from support as I'm certain I'll need to update to a higher version before the NDI can be utilized).

Changed my mind again. I called them and begged for the info I asked for and I'm keeping it for a few more days. Vizrt still hasn't responded with answers, only saying they'll be in touch.
