Template Builder - Custom Templates

I’m currently working my way through the VIZ Template Builder documentation. As ‘custom templates’ are very important for our company, I naturally wanted to go through all the examples in the documentation.

Unfortunately, I can’t find a customTemplate_sample.js file in the samples folder. The documentation refers to this file in the section ‘Quick_Start_Code_Samples.html’ under ‘Connecting a Custom HTML Template to a Viz Pilot Template – Advanced’.

Does anyone know where I can find it? Or do you have any other useful tips for getting started with custom templates?

I'm not sure which release version documentation you are referencing, please share that information with us, as it could be that some information might be missing from the documentation that you are accessing.

In the meantime, for clarity, we didn’t distribute that file. It’s included in the documentation purely as an example to show how a custom HTML template should be structured and how the files relate to each other.

Please refer to this documentation version that will explain how to set up Custom HTML templates (start from the section Setting Up a Simple Custom HTML Template) which explains what the customTemplate_sample.js file means.

So in short: the documentation is describing the expected setup and file structure, not providing pre-built sample files.

We are using Template Builder version 3.4.1.1601. Build date: 2026-01-06

I accessed the documentation directly via the Template Builder. In other words, I clicked on the Template Builder icon, which also displays the version information.

Thx for clarifing regarding the example - I'll try to wrap my head around the Custom HTML Template generation.

If there are any other helpful tips or links, I’d be happy to have them.
