Have a Stream Deck and tired of typing in cryptic HTTP URLs to control a TriCaster?

Try out the new NewTek Stream Deck plug-in! Control a TriCaster, 3PLAY, NewTek PTZ cameras and Spark devices from the press of a button. Get live images on button. Create a countdown timer to start your show. Operate the teleprompter output.

This free plugin is available for Stream Deck software running on Windows or Macintosh.

The plug-in is found in the Elgato Stream Deck store.

I guess this means that the Stream Deck app is officially white-listed for TriCasters?
...Or are there some special installation procedures?
 
You should install the Stream Deck device and software on a separate Windows or Macintosh system, it talks to the TriCaster over the network. It will also be much easier to configure Stream Deck with it running on a separate system.
 
I've just tried this with my Streamdeck and Mini HDi4 however connect can't be established..

It is limited to certain Tricaster models?

It works with the correct IP address via Central Control and the Web interface, but NOT the Newtek Connection?

I'm also having an issue establishing a connection between the Stream Deck config tool and my TC1. Stream Deck is running on a Mac connected to the same switch as TC1 and I'm certain the IP address is correct. I've tried it with and without a password, although the Live Panel Password tool in the Admin mode doesn't show my password after I've saved and closed. Any thoughts?

EDIT: I found a Knowledge Base article that talks about LivePanel access operating over Port 80, so I opened a port forward on my TriCaster, disabled LivePanel password and VOILA! it works. Tested successfully on both Mac and Windows. I feel like that needs to be included in that setup video.

It supports TriCaster system running Rev 7 software, for the Mini HDi4 systems that would be Advanced Edition 3. The plug-in might work with Advanced Edition 2 (it probably does, but hasn't been tested). It will not work on anything ealier.

I'm guessing that your network type in Windows on the TC1 is set to 'Public'. It is recommending that your network type be set to 'Private' and then you shouldn't need to open any firewall rules.
 
Just wanted to post an update about the NewTek Stream Deck plug-in that has just been brought to my attention.

Elgato released an update to Stream Deck v6.0.0.17703 a few days ago. While this new version appears very similar it has changed some of the libraries being used. One of these changes is affecting communication with TriCaster and 3PLAY in certain cases.

The issue is with the above build of Stream Deck software. Elgato just released Stream Deck v6.0.1.17722 that fixes this issue, update the Stream Deck software and communication will be restored.
 
The plug-in has only been tested against Rev 7/AE3 TriCaster systems, I was guessing about compatibility with AE2.
 
I use the mobile version of Stream Deck on my iOS device. It connects and works fine on my Mini SDI running ver. 5-1-191224.

Thanks for the feedback. I was pretty sure it should work, as the API between AE2/Rev 5.x and AE3/Rev 7.x is pretty much identical, and I don't think there is any commands used in the Stream Deck plug-in that would leverage it to be AE3 only.
 
Hi! I use TriCasters in production, and a few Spark Plus IO for changing between i.ex Program/Teleprompter and other like PPT input etc. I have used the Streamdeck XL for this a long time. It has worked great. I used the NewTek Plug-in - and the Spark Decode Preset there - and all was fine. Until...... Every now and then you have to update your Spark Plus IO with the newest software - which I did. And after that update, the Newtek Plug in (Spark Decode Preset) does not work at all. It works just as normal on the web interface - there you can have the Preset`s you want - and works fine, but on the Streamdeck - does not work. I have been researching this matter extensively and obtained a Spark Plus NDI 4K UHD with the previous software installed, which works perfectly. This indicates that updating the Spark Plus with new software causes the Spark Preset Control to stop working on the Streamdeck. With this information in hand, I am keen to get this issue resolved so we can update to the latest software without losing this feature. Could you please direct me to whom I should contact within your system to request a fix? Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

I've got similar issue. StreamDeck (connected to MacMini) is communicating with TriCaster (for Macros, etc.) just fine, but sometime in past month stopped communicating with all of our Spark Plus (NSP4KIO) aka Viz Connect Solo devices. I thought it might be something about our networking setup– but we didn't change anything on that front. I DID update the firmware on all Spark units sometime in past 2 months but that didn't seem to immediately trigger the lack of StreamDeck control.

I had one theory that perhaps a MacOS security update (in Monterey) had triggered the issue. So I updated to MacOS Sonoma– but nothing changed. I then tried using a Windows laptop as Stream Deck "host" connected to very same ethernet & wifi networks.... and all Stream Deck control returned.

I've compared and matched networking setups between the Mac & Windows setups, but still at a loss for why StreamDeck succeeds via Windows but NOT via Mac.
 
Thanks for your reply, Michael. So, if I understand you correct - now everythings works great using a PC as a "host" for the Streamdeck? You see, I have used PC as a host for the Streamdeck all the time. All the other commands works fine, but the Plug in - "Spark Decode preset" does not work with the new software. It works with the previous software. Have you been able to get the plug in "Spark decode preset" to work - with PC ? - and the new software?. Thanks a lot.

I'll give this a more scientific test within next few days.
 
I have written an updated 'Vizrt' version of the Stream Deck plug-in that fixes this issue (plus adds some new features). I've not gotten it pushed thru for release, but it is ready to go. If you want, I can share a link with you, send me a DM.

This is a complete re-write (and major code clean-up) from the NewTek version, using a later Elgato SDK. It will install as a new plug-in, separate from the NewTek one. Once you get it installed, you will need to rebuild your buttons.

New Vizrt plug-in installed fine.
StreamDeck connected to TriCaster seamlessly & all my Macros re-connected using new Vizrt plug-in.

Unfortunately... StreamDeck still won't switch sources on my Spark/VizConnect units (using Viz Connect Solo Decode Preset):

I tried this new Vizrt plug-in on MacMini (device that was always "hosting" StreamDeck and successfully connecting to TriCaster and Spark units until 6-8 weeks ago). Also connected StreamDeck to Windows laptop that was connected to the very same networks, and in neither setup could I get the Spark/VizConnect devices to respond to StreamDeck buttons. And all that while button setup for Decode Preset showed "successful" Device IP connection to the devices.

I'm still puzzled, and planning to get my I.T. contractors on phone next week to dig into this (I'm back to thinking it's a network configuration issue here on my end).
