Here's the latest...
That SKU decodes as:
- TC860 = TriCaster 860
- MS = Multi-Standard model
- AdvEd = Advanced Edition license
In other words, the license information the previous owner sent you appears to correspond to an
Advanced Edition upgrade for a TriCaster 860.
However, that creates a contradiction:
- Installed software: 2-2-140203B (Standard Edition)
- License SKU: TC860MSAdvEd (Advanced Edition)
Those two should not normally exist together.
There are a few possibilities:
- The hard drive was replaced. This is the most common explanation. Someone installed an older Standard Edition image, so the machine boots Standard Edition even though the owner has the Advanced Edition license.
- The Advanced Edition was never installed. The owner may have purchased the license but never completed the upgrade.
- The software was restored from recovery media. Factory recovery DVDs often restore Standard Edition. Unless the Advanced Edition update is reinstalled afterward, the system stays Standard Edition.
I think your seller is probably telling the truth
When you first told me the build number, I suspected the seller had simply been mistaken. Now, seeing
TC860MSAdvEd, I think it's much more likely that the
license exists, but the
software on the hard drive doesn't match the license.
Here's what I'd ask the seller
- Does he have the Advanced Edition installer (DVD, ISO, or downloaded installer)?
- Does he have any recovery media that came with the upgrade?
- Did he ever reinstall Windows or replace the system drive?
Those answers will tell us a lot.
