Think innovation. Think Sky, a FTSE TOP 30 and the UK’s favourite triple play provider – TV, broadband and telephony. Now in over 10 million households we entertain, excite and inspire customers with the combination of great content and great innovation. This is the driving force behind our growth as we strive to be the UK’s no. 1 choice in entertainment and communications.

We now have vacancies for Vizrt Designers within Sky Creative’s News Design team to further develop our innovative on screen graphics and presentation to further distinguish us from our competitors. This role is part of a growing and dynamic team working with one of the biggest brands in international journalism.

Designers provide a broad range of creative work across Sky News output, comprising fast turnaround design responding to live breaking news, as well as long term project work, and collaboration with the wider design team across broadcast and digital platforms. With this in mind you need the ability to multi-task and work effectively both on your own and as part of a team in a time sensitive environment. The nature of the work means that you need to work a flexible schedule on a shift rotation.

As a designer you will have a passion for motion design and storytelling, be a problem solver, and pay attention to detail. You will be proactive in the commissioning process and therefore must have the confidence to liaise with production teams to come up with creative solutions. Clear communication is essential.

As well as a keen understanding of current affairs, the successful candidate must have formal design training and or relevant experience in a design environment. You will need to demonstrate proficiency in Viz Artist, Adobe Creative Suite and have a solid understanding of 3D modelling and animation (Maya, Cinema4D, Softimage XSI, 3D Studio Max). Knowledge and experience with other Vizrt products (Trio, Content Pilot, Curious Maps, VizWorld, VizWeather) will be advantageous as would experience of scripting.

The work is varied and includes graphics for broadcast, iPad and online, touchscreens and web applications for presenters, and data driven systems for weather, business and election specials. You will be expected to evaluate alternative software as well as keeping up to date with developing technologies within the industry to ensure we keep evolving.

The creative team is continually improving and expanding its graphics presentation and skill base across all platforms and the work brings together designers, animators, and technologists to ensure that Sky News always delivers fast, accurate and high quality graphics to our audiences.

On top of great training and development opportunities, Sky offer discounted subscription TV, Broadband and Talk services, private medical insurance, generous holiday entitlements, enhanced Maternity & Paternity benefits, contribution pension scheme, a share-save scheme, plus Sky Choices, a benefit scheme to help you make valuable tax and national insurance savings.

It’s our people that make Sky the UK and Ireland’s leading entertainment company. That’s why we work hard to be an inclusive employer, so everyone at Sky can be their best.

For your application to be considered, you must send in your CV along with your work portfolio/showreel.

Due to the fast paced nature of Sky’s Businesses our vacancy close dates may be subject to change.
